This is a test.

Emergency!

Had this been a real emergency, you would have all drowned, been burnt in a cataclysm or fallen from the edge of the Earth created by the earthquake. Choose your own natural disaster. Please enter the disaster zone with caution.

After much nausea, M3 is officially moved, but is still in the cardboard kingdom. The ease of which a blog this size is moved is horrifically overstated. As I investigate the contents of the boxes the movers left on the homepage, I will be attempting to reach those whose subscriptions did not get packed. Yes, dear M3 Readers, some of you were left behind.

Encoding

I lied. I told you I was not going to do any encoding to move this monstrosity. That was an utter fabrication. Fortunately, my search skills are excellent. I only needed to hand write two lines of code. The remainder, I cut and pasted.

There is a reason I do not encode any longer. It is the same reason I do not do taxes. It is the same reason I do not manage an over-sized babysitting service (read retail store with more than 500 employees plus 1/10 management complement).

I DESPISE IT.

All right. No more screaming.

This is just a short …looking for non-expletive… post to ask those who get an email about this post to comment below. I am trying to gauge a few things. Namely:

  • Complete Gravatar migration
  • Level of subscription malfunction
  • Number of widgets and patches I need to make M3 function
  • Malfunction of the statistics being powered by WP

Fine Print

For those who were unaware, WordPress does not count all of your visitors in your stats. There are a number of sites it deems spam. Ironically, Google Plus is one of them. Based on outside scripts I have found my stats lacking as many as 500 hits per day. Hopefully, this move will rectify some of those issues. The handy-dandy counter at the bottom could care less what WP counts and does not discriminate against the last website you were visiting.

Widgets do not migrate. I could devote an entire post to this. Let me know if you would like the skinny.

Themes are not universal. If you want your theme to move to your own domain, check to be sure it is available on WordPress.org or you will be building from something completely different or shopping the way you did when you first began.

But enough of this. Let the test begin.

  1. Tooth-cutting move. You shall survive, Red, you are a survivor. You CAN do it, Red! You’ll have the “Dear Red” alien comic book division up and running in no time. Please advise when the IPO is made. “:))

  3. So, if I understand correctly you went to WordPress.org — That shouldn’t be a huge deal, as long as everyone pays attention.

No, I did not go to WP.org. I went somewhere else. And no, is should not be, but it has been.

  4. I like the new banner…. Comments require me to type my name and email address. Then it pulls my picture out of a hat and displays it. Very interesting.

That is the break from WP. When you comment the next time, it should call it up when you type the first letter or click in the box.

Just curious…Did you get a WP notifier I responded to this comment? And do you still have to input your email to add a comment?

Interesting. I will have to test that again. It was working for me earlier. I think it is on a rotation, though. Hmm.

      • Your header can be made clearer by resizing the graphic you are using, well that is what I do on mine whenever that problem arises, then one will be able to read your name without the blur… In theory anyway 🙂 lol

        You’re doing great…

Apparently, I am the only one who perceived the idea of the blur. I have been toying with other banners this afternoon. We shall see what I can come up with before too long 😉

Good to see you today, Guapo! I am very interested to see how many of the WP only followers actually make it here. Most everyone who has come since the move has gotten here by bookmark. Just curious…when I replied to this comment, did you get the notification on the WP toolbar?
