Flash in the Pan

“Wow! It is gorgeous, but it is huge.”

The artist asked her to move over; she was blocking his light. “I thought you said you weren’t getting any more.” Cabol was filling in the last few feathers with a brilliant blue ink.

Marshall never looked up. When Cabol was finished, he’d see the phoenix on his back for the first time in a photograph.

“Patsy, I can’t explain it any plainer. The phoenix represents how lucky I am to be alive, okay? Look, if you don’t like my tattoos, get lost. I’ve had them longer than I have had you.”

Welcome to "Flash in the Pan"

Welcome to “Flash in the Pan”

Guys and Dolls, this is the last flash of the quarter. Precisely on limit at 100 words, the flash features this week’s word: alive.

Are your flashes in the SIB or on the FTP page? Today is the day! If your flashes are scheduled over the next 10 days, sent the text and the link through the Ask Momma box (under About Momma).

Tomorrow, the new words and the first Hot Flash for the summer FTP. You only get one hint: Are you hungry?

Happy Flashing!

Do you have ink? What is Patsy really saying? What did Marshall survive? Even if you have no ink, what tattoo would you think is beautiful?

  1. They use needles and getting drunk for it would increase my blood loss. I don’t do blood, especially my own. I would love a black panther. The prettiest ink I saw was either the dream catcher, a wolf or was it the brick heart with a wrecking ball and the caption “break this one bitch”…..oh that’s nowhere near the question.

New words tomorrow, new words tomorrow! Happy dance, happy dance!!

  2. Nice one, Red… and including a phoenix too!
I don’t do tattoos myself, but if others want to have them – why not? They can certainly help to recall great memories!

    • Phoenix is my Chinese symbol, and a very apt one. I have none, but I have more than one in mind. Great to see you today, Tom.

  3. I also don’t have any tattoos and the only kind I’d ever sorta thought about is the kind that’s a permanent eyeliner!

  4. I think Marshall survived a fighter pilot crash. The Phoenix makes me think he came too close to the sun, risking death. I don’t have any tattoos, but if I did, it would be a blue orchid, symbolizing beauty, hardiness, and also sadness.

Patsy is really saying she doesn’t accept his need to revel in his ability to live in spite of the dangers he’s faced. Something very close to who he really is.

    • ROFL! Good thing to say for all those who think everyone getting the same one is individualistic.

  6. I love this one, for obvious reasons. The Phoenix is my next one.

    Body art is symbolism usually.

    • I only know a handful who have ink without thought. Summarily, it symbolizes their trip through life. xxx

  7. I don’t think Patsy likes the tattoo at all. Marshall must have survived some death defying accident, maybe a race car driver.

No, I don’t have tattoos but an inked eyeliner has always fascinated me (I’m a whimp; too close to my eyes).

    Sensaational Flash.
