Flash in the Pan

As long as the noise aroused no suspicion, he could get away with it.

She was still in bed and shouldn’t be able to hear him downstairs with the door closed. He had to keep it a secret at least for three more days.

He nearly jumped out of his skin.Β “Vincent Paul Caprizzi, just what do you think you are doing?” Her arms were crossed over theΒ marabou collar of her robe, spine stiff, mouth puckered.

“It was supposed to be a surprise for your birthday, Mom,” he dejectedly whispered, shoulders slumped.

“Surprise? That is what you call… that?”

Welcome to "Flash in the Pan"

Welcome to “Flash in the Pan”

It is the last month of this quarter’s Flash in the Pan. The word limit for March is 100, and this flash is precisely 100 words. This week’s word is aroused. Can you flash this word in 100 words or less?

Some of the best flashers anywhere have been busy. Stop by the Flash in the Pan page (link just below the header to the left) to see all the entries thus far. There are a growing number from those who do not have blogs. If you know someone who tells terrific ultra-short stories, point them toward Flash in the Pan. All authors are welcome to submit flashes.

The FTP books are getting great reviews. Stop by the book store to pick up a copy. Click the slide show in the right side bar to go directly to the books.

Happy Flashing!

What was he making? Why is she not happy? How old are they both? Do you know someone who should be flashing? Are you?

  6. I always hated surprises by my children. Usually they were alive and had scales.

    What could it be?

    • Most of my children did not like scales until they were older. Mine were always glue creations.

  8. Hm. Intriguing, yet I feel sorry for the kid (cause I’m not his mom). Still, there are surprises, and there are s.u.r.p.r.i.s.e.s. I can’t imagine what this one might be.

I see a long flaming red nail pointing here. “That is what you call… that?” The second that makes it almost a sneer. Awesome imagery, Red.
