Flash in the Pan

“Do I know you?” She stood in the open door with a blank expression.

How could she not recognize me?

She had not changed at all: Lusciously curvy, chestnut curls, long eyelashes. The lead actress in all of my fantasies.

“You must have mistaken me for someone else.” She closed the door.

She is the only one I’ve ever loved, and she never knew I existed.

Welcome to “Flash in the Pan”

Tonight’s Flash falls well below the August upper limit of 100 words, at 66. The word for this week is “door”. If you would like to play along and be linked on the Flash in the Pan page, link back to this post with your flash.

Have you ever had a crush on someone who had no idea who you were or that you have a crush? Has someone ever revealed a crush on you which you never expected? Are crushes just for the young?

  1. Oh, my gosh, you do take me back.

I was about 8 or 9. I was in school, walking with my (adopted) cousin through the playground. We passed under a tree and a big chunk of tree was thrown at me by a boy named Mark. I looked up at him, there in the tree, and he looked at me. It hurt a lot, but young as I was, I decided I wouldn’t give him the pleasure of seeing he had affected me (omg, just like with dad… how funny to realise this is how I was so young).

Well THEN, when we’d passed from under the tree, I asked my cousin Louise why the hell did she think he did that, it really hurt. And she said, “Don’t you know? He’s got a crush on you!”

I’d forgotten that .. until this post, Red! Crushes aint for me, thanks!
