Flash in the Pan

He stares at the ovals on the page. ABBA-DABBA seems like a brilliant idea, as long as he doesn’t think it too loud. It does not match the rhythm of the rum drum in his brain.

“Why did I think drinking would settle my nerves and make me study better?”

ink it Welcome to “Flash in the Pan”

Today’s offering comes in at half-weight…50 words. This week’s word is drum. The upper limit for August is 100 words.

Everyone interested in playing along with FTP need only pick one of the featured words, write a flash (staying under or at the maximum number of words for the month), and link back to the post where the word is featured. If you would like to get ahead or catch up, the words are posted on the Flash in the Pan page where your flashes will be linked. (Check out the early entries for this word there.)

Flash in the Pan will be a quarterly publication compliments of Redmund Productions. All entries will be published. Deadline for this edition is 30SEP12. Entries must be linked before 2359 EDT (GMT-5). All non-WordPress users need to email their links via Ask Momma.

Have you ever ABBA-DABBA on a standardized test? Have you ever over-estimated your capacity for drink the night before something important? What goes with the rhythm of a rum drum?

I played where will my pencil land to pick the answers. Not so much over estimated drink, underestimated need for sleep before a big event……rum drum goes with a day in bed in a nice deep sleep.

    • Would it drown out short kid sounds? I may have to switch from tequila.

It sure does drown out kid sounds, black out the room, lay down, close eyes……….dead to the world for at least 24 if you did it right.

  2. I was boring. If I didn’t know the answer, I just took a good guess and hoped for the best. Good flash Red. 🙂

    • I was winging this one. Never been much of a rum drinker. Too sweet for my palate. I like it sour! 😉

  4. “eenie-meenie-minie-mo”, a big Aspirin and a guess is as good as any when the headache sounds like your drum from the rum. Gave up that foolishness a LONG time ago… “:)

  5. I was going to say no I have no idea what you are talking about..but I had a wicked grade A hangover when I took the ASFAB,,,

it sucked although I still scored above average. I am not real good at mechanical stuff so when I got to the section with the gears and stuff.. I guessed.

I should have just had a few more whatever Iwas drinking and skipped the whole thing….

    • LOL! I took ASFAB so long ago I have no idea if I actually read the questions. It was a long summer I took a ton of those things…All of the college boards. Yuck. I despise those bubbles to this day. {HUGZ} xxx

  6. I skipped all those tests, I was so nervous. Entered college at age 35 not needing them! And I purposely took courses that required essays and term papers, haha. Never much of a drinker, but still had numb drum of a head when it came to testing!
