Flash in the Pan

“Aubrey, what am I going to do? The police said I would probably never see the money again. Do you have a pen? I have to fill out this report.”

“They have to tell you that so when they never catch the guy, they can say they never promised you they would.” As she tried to fish a pen from the bottom of her purse, the wallet dropped to the floor, spilling hundred dollar bills across the tile.

Welcome to “Flash in the Pan”

The upper word limit for December is 100 words. This flash comes in at a mere 78. The word for this week isΒ fish.Β Today, I chose verb over noun. Which one will you choose?

If you are playing along for Flash in the Pan, or would like to join for the first time, visit the Flash in the Pan page to learn how to be a part of the second edition of FTP. We are nearing the end. Just three more flashes before this set of words closes, and I introduce the spring words.

Happy Flashing!

Have you ever had anything stolen? Did you get it back? Did you or the police find out who did it? What would you do if you found the person was someone pretending to help you find the thief? Which would be worse: The wallet is Aubrey’s or the victim’s?

  1. I’ve had several things stolen through the years, very few were found and returned. I almost always knew who the thief was, getting a thief to admit they’re a thief not so easy.

The wallet can be Aubrey’s but the money inside the victims, only an idiot would keep the wallet instead of getting rid of it and keeping the money.

    • Somehow, I picture Aubrey carrying one of those bags which would hold a body if you folded it at least half right.

  2. Check those serial numbers! Well that probably wouldn’t work. So is she a thief or isn’t she>

  4. The wallet can very well be Audrey’s with the stolen money spilling out of it. Ha ha. Nice friend. Or, it might be the victim’s wallet; mystery solved and one burned friend.

I’m smiling over this one. It’s too delicious not to turn inside out and sideways–so many possibilities…

    • This one makes me wonder what the conversation was right before she asks for the pen. I wonder what Aubrey told her.

  6. Hi hun! πŸ™‚

Yes I have had a lot stolen over the years and have even been to court, but the thief only got three months curfew.

A joke really – and I never got my money and property back…

    Love and hugs!

    • Sounds like the guy who stole my lawnmower. Not just mine, so it was “nothing personal”. Weasel stole 14 in a three block radius. After their collective owners had paid him in excess of $4,000 to work on them. He was just shopping for merchandise. Worm. He got nothing.
