Hot Flash!

Roots clawed at his legs. A spider menaced his outstretched hand.

He tumbled with loose earth back into the puddle, final remnant of the well. He began the climb again.

At the top, no matter how he stretched, her hand was just out of reach.

Welcome to "Flash in the Pan"

Welcome to “Flash in the Pan”

It is a new quarter and a new month! Let’s open the book Finding the Path with the word reach. With a word limit of 50, this flash comes in at 45.

On 01AUG13, Flashes from the Bistro will be available in the RedmundPro book store. As always, the first ebook of the series is free. Stop by and pick up the set. It is on sale this month in preparation for the new release. Pick up all three for only $20 with discounted shipping. Save at least $6 on the set.

Get your flashes together. The new words are up so you can get a jump! Just be sure to meet the deadline of 30SEP13. At midnight, this book will go, well, into the books. See the official FTP page for this quarter’s theme, rules and limits.

Many thanks to the authors who joined last quarter! Do you know someone who would be a terrific flasher? Let them know about FTP.

Happy Flashing!

How did he get in the well? Who is she? Are you flashing with us this quarter?

  1. I can’t think how he got in there, Red… but I hope he managed to get out! Sounds like he was having a bit of a struggle!

    • Let’s do hope. It would be a shame to leave him to the spiders. Glad to see you, Tom.

  2. Great flash Red and I’m glad the new words are up. I’ll get to writing some new flashes soon. 🙂

  4. I agree with Tom…Icky spot to be in.

Is this the word for the day? I’ve been meaning to join in. Give me a minute. I’ll think of something or some word will grab me eventually.

    • Yes, this is the short one for the month. Stop by the Flash in the Pan page for all of the words. You can do them in any order, as many or as few as you like. Terrific to see you, Tots. xxx

  5. This is a lovely little flash to kick-start the new quarter Red and by the way, thank you for your email regarding MAGIC and my link, I appreciate that my great friend 🙂 🙂

Have a lovely Tuesday and be good 😉

    • You are very welcome. Glad you liked this one. See you when you get back. 😉

  6. Ick. Doesn’t he know you’re not supposed to lean into the well to grab back the penny he made the wish with? Maybe the girl will get help? It isn’t dark yet…

Makes my skin crawl but I’m loving this.

  7. This is such a dramatic flash, Red. I can see the whole setting and his struggle to get to the top. When you wrote about the puddle, I could feel the dank wet bottom and surface of the stones. You are an expert! Thanks.

    • Glad you liked this slimy one. I am working on more scenery and fewer characters. I think I have the character thing down. xxx

  8. ow…the new set of words has already started 🙂 hopefully I can write more.

Love your new flash…it’s a scary situation

  9. Here’s a one-word reaction to your flash …. gripping.
