Flash in the Pan

He slammed the cabinet. The faucet was running, spilling over the top of the pot. He left it on as he poured the water into the coffee maker.

Skillets and pots rattled when he kicked the stove drawer shut. The burner squeaked under the pressure of the pan.

He pushed the refrigerator door with his hip, and everything in the door banged together.

When she stumbled into the kitchen, yawning, she asked, “Why are you up so early on your day off?”

“Oh, did I wake you?”

Have you ever disturbed someone’s sleep because you were angry? Anyone done it to you? Have you ever done something nice for someone when you were angry to make them feel shame?

What is the next part of the conversation which should take place?

  1. Informing him she’s going back to bed, at least that’s what I do. I often wake people when I’m mad, of course it has more to do with being the only one that doesn’t get to nap regularly instead of caring if someone is sleeping on my non-existent days off.

  4. I love this one! I used to make noise to wake my Mate when I was taking care of two preemies and getting maybe two hours of broken sleep a day. The punishment for doing that was he didn’t wake up!
But at least I released my anger at being a single parent in a two parent household πŸ˜‰

  5. I get awakened frequently by telesales, neighbours looking to use my phone or borrow money.

In the end I have learned to ignore them, but I sure do get angry when I’m short of sleep!!! πŸ™‚

    Love and hugs!

    • Oh, pish tosh. I frequently turn off the tele to get some sleep. Since it is unlikely anyone would call me to tell me my house was ablaze, there is little I can do from a dead sleep which would be intimately helpful. πŸ˜‰
