My Rainbow

I was over to Ramblings & Rants for a visit and came across Grant’s post about how the rainbow in his life was going grey. He would later find more color in his rainbow, which made me examine mine. You would never know by the atrocious wall color in my house, but my life is vibrant with color.

Roy G. Biv

My Red is an everyday thing. It is very much my color. Anger, certainly. Passion, definitely. Fire within, got it.

My orange is delicious, a sweet papaya swirled in cream. It is the color of reason and hunger. Hand-in-hand, they feed one another.

GrantsMy yellow is a sun ray, like the one which streams through my window making my screen glare just enough to drive me away from the machine to partake in life. And when my hands are across the keyboard, my yellow circles my finger, a promise of happily ever after.

My green is lively, the color of a leaf before it fully unfurls, tenderly seeking the light. It signifies the children in my life with their innocence and genuine love of laughter.

My blue is calm, the color of the sky after a rainstorm and the perfect backdrop for the promise of the rainbow… and it is double more often than I admit. I see the color in the eyes of the ones I love.

My indigo is the color of the night sky, bespeckled with twinkling stars. It signifies rest, forgiveness and replenishment.

My violet is cool, the wind in my hair. It takes the edge off hurt feelings and cools wounds.

Stripes and Curves

The colors do not have a finite border. Instead, they mix gently where they meet creating new colors to entice, entertain, enlighten.

The edges are not sharp. Gently sweeping across my sky, the rainbow is soft and comforting.

I love the color in my life.

Tell me about your rainbow.

Very poetic Red. I’ll think about my rainbow. Meanwhile, here’s a link to my rainbow in 1973:

It’s funny that you should bring up wall colors. I never understood people who live with builder beige. Ironically, since I now live in a hotel room, it is what I stare at, day in, day out.

My inner rainbow has all the colors, but purple is the brightest. Another rainbow in my life is my cat. Upon casual observation she is gray, but if you look closer, she has peach in her fur and she is actually a calico tabby. When I look at her, I think of peach custard because it looks like she walked through it.

    • What a brilliant observation! My long time companion, Outlaw (the one everyone called “Old Man” even as a kitten), was a Russian Tuxedo. On closer look, you could see his black-on-black tabby lineage in the bluish inkiness of his fur. I adore the image of peach custard!

I painted this house for sale and decided not to sell (see housing bottom). My room is not so dismally painted, although all who see the rest of the home declare its openness and airiness. Grand. I live in a solarium.

Glad to see you today, Alex! I hope your birthday was a wonderful one. Red.
