Muse for Monday

As we search out soul mates, we are not guaranteed the one who appears will fit our preconceptions. Do you know what your soul mate is going to look, act, feel like? Let’s embark on a journey of discovery.

Rosebud Aware Writer John McDevitt

My Equal

You burst in when there was quiet all around.
No invitation, no cue, no call.
Why did I not tell you to leave then?

Because I would have lost so much.
So many things I did not know were missing
Until you brought them to my life again.

The voice of reason.
When reason is the last thing
I want to hear.

Mischievous intimacy.
Animalistic, satisfied
Music to my ear.

A net of safety.
When the world crumbles
At my feet.

Symphonies of music.
Vibrant melody over
A steadfast beat.

The positions you fill are many.
Each slakes a different need or
Creates one lacking before.

With each new adventure,
You beckon me forward or
Help guide me through the door.

Weaver of dreams.
Already I thought I’d had
More than my share.

Softener of my heart.
For all those things about
Which I did not care.

Mental pugilist.
Testing the boundaries
Of logic and reason.

Queller of angst.
Regardless of target,
Cause or season.

For you see, my dear,
You burst in to become
What I needed:

My Equal

  1. Someone is trying to justify something or make apologies for something they are doing that is mortality wrong. Always a cover up. Good one Red.

This does not smack of an apology nor a cover up it was written from the heart which makes it all the better. I find the poem well written and well founded. Moraly wrong? Judge ye not lest ye be judged sounds like words to remember. Now is as good time as any to figure out what the message really is. please re read pay close attention to the last part of the poem.Bear

  2. I didn’t see that (Jim’s comment) at all. I always have to think on things for a while. It is a beautiful poem though. I especially liked the last part:

    For you see, my bear,
    You burst in to become
    What I needed:

    My Equal

  5. “As we search out soul mates, we are not guaranteed the one who appears will fit our preconceptions. Do you know what your soul mate is going to look, act, feel like?” I often tell the story of my husband and I who did NOT like each other at first. We then became friends and eventually more than that. However, he is not at all my ‘type’ or what I envisioned as my soul mate. God had a better plan though.

I tend to see this as a story of your journey as you find new love in your life. It’s funny how different people can look at the same thing and see something completely different. I have to wonder if projection doesn’t play a part in that ;]

I envision a woman who has come to a point in her life where she is perfectly satisfied with her life the way it is and hasn’t been looking or expecting more than what she already has, certainly not a new love. She’s been there and done that and whether out of a friendship or that of a new acquaintance…………..over time love blossoms and awakens the fire within, desires that she had thought were put to rest, starting with an ember only to burst into full flame engulfing her fully in the warmth of passion. This new love challenges her known reality and lovingly holds her hand as they embark on this journey together.

    Or;

This is interaction between the mind and the heart.

  8. This is a love that is yearned for on every level, a wanting that is fuelled by the inner fire of desire and an eclipsing of immeasurable possibilities never realised, yet in the touches of sweetness all is satisfied, of spirit and of wanton pleasures that surges with every emotion, in a passion of hearts…

A lovely poem Red. A whirling, swirling, dance where words try but can never convey the true power of the emotions behind them.
