Saturday Evening Post

No more talk of roller coasters and other nauseating events. No more hatemail. No more awards. Tonight is a quiet fireside look into the ticker. Pull up a rocker, grab a cuppa. Successes are sweeter than sugar cubes. How about some saltwater taffy?

NEWS

Moving

The Cardboard Kingdom

Far and above all other things, moving tops the list of stressors. It beats out such other notables as tax audits, divorce and teenagers. Precisely N.O. O.N.E. likes to move. The packing. The moving. The unpacking. The broken items. The grubby mover fingerprints.

It will drive someone without OCD pretty close to insanity. You can only imagine what it has done to me… already OCD and insane before the move.

Subscriptions

This week, M3 lost all of its subscribers in the move. So far, no one has admitted to finding M3 shy a visit, pingback, link or email from me. It will take me a couple of weeks to track down everyone individually. Many, many, many thanks to those who have already made it here.

If this is your first trip back since the crash move, there are some changes. Before we get to those, please resubscribe. It is in the left sidebar, where it always was.

Facebook

Fans

I have more than 5,000 contacts.

You should have noticed the like box at the top of new posts. Under the subscription box is a registration box.  Clicking the login button inside will allow you to use your Facebook login to comment. I am waiting for one of you to break it for me, so I know if I coded it properly. I was a little shy on guinea pigs this afternoon.

I still have not built the canvas for the Facebook M3 app, but I hope to have it finished shortly. Meanwhile, you can visit the 5,000 page for updates while you are cruising Facebook.

How does it feel?

You probably noticed the change in the header image from the crayon green Momma’s Money Matters. You may also have noticed the change in the tag line. I have a sneaking suspicion it will evolve, much the same way the last one did.

The menus above the header are very similar to the old one, with some notable exceptions:

  • M3 News is gone.
  • Welcome Home is the new page where notes to the M3 Readers will be posted. This page changes often…already four times in three days.
  • Hover your mouse over the Green Room and you will find The Alumni Club. Check out how to get there.
  • Hover cards for the Trophy Room, Office, Map.

The lower menu bar is completely new. These links take you to your favorite features:

  • Friday Follies
  • Mantra’s Poems
  • Saturday Evening Post
  • Story Time
  • Writer’s Spotlight

Muse for Monday will get its own menu spot soon.

Legalese

There have been some updates to The Office. If you are not aware of how much M3 respects your privacy and the copyright of others, please read.

Faithful

The M3 Readers are the blogosphere’s best audience. As everyone finds their way back here, you have been so supportive and helpful in telling me what is (broken, missing, needed). I am still working on a few requests, but we are getting much closer to a fully functioning blog!

Future

Still in the works are the addition of books and the overhaul of the Coffee Shoppe…I hope you like it! But enough about that.

DETOUR

Let’s make an abrupt left turn. Were you here this week? In specific, were you here for Talk Tuesday? The topic was the secrets we keep about our truest selves.

Apparently, my verbosity obfuscated the question…the point was not the hardships and hurts and ills which shape our personalities, not the experiences we do not want to share or are not prepared to share. That seemed to be the only secret anyone identified as one they kept. I counter the thinking with something completely different.

Beliefs

The number one thing which shapes the way we act is the belief system in which we live our lives. There are the physical beliefs we have:

  • Fire burns.
  • The sun rises and sets.
  • Water is wet.
  • Gravity increases the older you get…

Then, there are the intangible beliefs. They differ from person to person in definition, quantity and depth, but we all have them:

  • Higher power
  • Dreams
  • Prevalence of goodwill

We each hold a belief which is solely about ourselves. It is about the capabilities we have or lack. Most of them we believe without having ever put it to a critical test. We each have powers, even when we do not see them as powers.

  • Problem-solving
  • Common sense
  • Listening skills
  • Compassion
  • Nonchalance

Reveal

One of the deepest questions I have been ever asked was one which got me in touch with my inner power. When this post closes, I will pose it to you. My answer: Yes, but only in certain circumstances.

A Word From Mantra

Feeling neglected in a week filled with writing computer code and boring things, Mantra has been keeping me up nights scribbling in the notebook. She set this entire thing in motion more than two weeks ago.

Power

Drunk.
Can’t put it down.
Caught in its grasp.

Happy.
It is a crown,
A prize to clasp.

Mean.
Stuck in the head.
Swung like a sword.

Scared.
Lose it, you’re dead.
Gone with one word.

Envy.
Others have more
In an ivory tower.

Seek.
Opportunity’s door…
Behind it: Power.

Question of the night: Do you think you would be able to kill another human being?

I hope you have had a wonderful week and have begun the weekend restfully. See you in the comments.

~~~~~~~~~~
Just a bit of business: The poll is closing tonight. If you have not already, please vote. Thank you!
  1. Technically speaking, the sun doesn’t rise or set, it. . . oh, never mind. That was just a comic I did.
  2. I have no idea why M3 has lost almost everyone from WordPress it makes no sense to me, as although a lot of things have changed around here the essence of Red’s M3 Space is still intact, it has many strengths that bind the subjects together, it holds countless interesting features and has additional features to explore, and that is part of the journey.
    How can so many readers fail to enter this new Space, after all it is rather simplistic to get here in the first place without any guidance from its Author and Administrator, and with a little enthusiasm from friends it becomes even easier to use, for instance via the alternative means of adding a comment, I mean how difficult can it be?
    For instance I find it incredible that hardly anyone showed up for ‘Talk Tuesday’ indeed if I can show some interest being that I am on the opposite side of the pond then surely there should have been a much better response from others…
    I do hope that once everyone is gathered here at M3 again that there will be more chances of debating with one another as this is what binds us all together, us the reader base as we each offer our thoughts to the many themes offered here at M3 and in doing so widen the discussion even further.
    Yes we will have many different views and considerations but I think that we will evolve with M3 and of course our great friend Red…
    Have a lovely rest of evening Red 🙂
      The responses I have gotten so far are incredulous to me. After I was the one to announce I was going on vacation and M3 would not be dark in my absence, I have been questioned as to where I have been. The proverbial out of sight, out of mind created when the emails stop littering the inbox.
      Either way, everyone will eventually make their way back here, I suppose. The numbers are growing slowly, and I hope the one click registration will get some who have normally note commented to venture into the space.
      I am quite encouraged by some of the ones who have recently liked the 5,000 page who could tell me what had recently posted, despite their reticence to comment. Lets me know not all of the lurkers are potential hatemailers.
      I hope your night is wondrous, dear friend.
    My answer is absolutely not. I seriously cannot even hit another human being, so I surely could never kill them. I was taught to use my words, though I was also taught to not say anything unless I had something nice to say. A bit redundant, and I do my best to follow what my mom taught me, but I don’t always follow the last tip from her. Expressing myself makes me less outraged, and therefore, I don’t hurt anyone. It all works out in the end, I suppose. Plus, I could never make it in prison. haha
      LOL! I am one who probably would not survive behind bars, either. I could never out of anger, but I know in my heart, in defense of my children I am capable of anything. Great to see you tonight, Becky. Hope you connect through the FB button!
        You’ve just registered for Momma’s Money Matters using your Facebook account.
        Before you mentioned it, I had not. I did sign up for e-mails, though. 🙂
        When it comes to Kaedie, Aidan, or Landon, I am the same way. I’m very overprotective, and my eyes never leave them in public. You can’t be too safe with all of the crazies out there. I live by Chardon, Ohio, so we recently got a front row seat to what people can do. Never thought it would happen. My niece, and nephew’s father is 6’4″ and 320lbs. I doubt I’ll ever be the one throwing the punches. haha
          Chances are good Dad will take care of that! Children open our beliefs of what our capabilities truly are in the blink of an eye. I have a standard answer when asked what I am afraid of…What my children are not afraid of. Strangers in particular. There are gobs of crazies. The sick thing is some of the craziest are right up close and personal.
    HATE moving and have moved too many times. Want to move soon. Hopefully very soon, but unlikely since I hate moving.
    As for the really big question…
    Come into my house, threaten my wife, my family or even my goldfish and you will leave in body bag. Simple as that. No remorse and I will only regret the mess to clean up after and the inconvenience of having police in the house and the motel stay at my own expense.
    Sorry. If it’s a choice between me-family-home or you, you will lose every time.
      I think we all get that way about where we live. Family is a motivating factor in so very many ways. While they may drive us to drink, heaven help the one attempting to interject. I am with you about the mess. Do not even get me started on hotels. I have no doubt why I own an RV.
  5. Could I kill?
    Truth is I simply do not know! 🙁
    I am surrounded by crazies, neerdowells, weird neighbours who are one arrest away from jail and people I simply cannot trust because of the harm they did me when I was at my most vulnerable.
    Yet, despite all that was done to me, still I have harmed no-one… 🙂
    Love and hugs!
  6. M3 moved???
    I wasn’t aware. Your latest posts have still shown up in my rss reader. Are you self hosted now???
    It looks the same to me except for a different header since I was last here. I’m not a great one for noticing changes in detail.
    On the moving subject I have done full circle from self hosted to Blogger to WP.com but today I went back to self hosted WP again so I can use Comicpress theme for my comics. last time I had some severe errors & my site died so I abandoned it out of frustrration rhater than get tech support to fix it. I really miss Comicpress for displaying my comics & everytime I visit a CP powered site lately I keep desiring to have it again.
    Now at http://thetasmanians.com
    Oh I just hovered over the little WP logos at the bottom & it says powered by WordPress not WP.com
    Good luck with it.
      Powered by but not hosted by…Are you going to have a follow by email button? I am not so good with keeping up with the feeds…I have far too many. I forget to go look at them. I love that I can bundle and filter my email. Ah well, something else to code 😉
      I love the look of your new space! The comics are so sharp! I will go back and change the link in the awards show to you to reflect your new address, so trackers can find you.
  8. I am waiting to see if I get emails of your posts. I have not so far, so I may have to sign up again if it doesn’t happen soon. I find you on fb though.
    Do you think you would be able to kill another human being? NO I honestly don’t believe I could do so, regardless of the circumstances. Maybe if someone threatened my kids/grandkids/ but even then, I don’t think I could. I sure hope I never have to find out. Angie
