Inspiring…hmm.

What was the question?

Always with the questions...

Inspiring is such an odd word. Its varied definitions makes it very versatile. I rather like its archaic meaning. Of the five viable definitions, figuring out which one best fit was a mite difficult. Rather than put it to a poll, I thought I may as well just ask.

We think of inspiration in pictures. Beauty encourages our creativity.

Some of our inspiration is dark imagery, which motivates us to think, say, do, become.

Funeral

Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia

Atomic Bomb Mushroom Cloud

Makes me wonder…

I have been know to impel and affect. Occasionally, I even motivate. More often, I incite. So which one was it which led All About Lemon and Adams Art to bestow upon M3 the Very Inspiring Blogger Award? Since the award does say, “Keeping the Blogosphere a Beautiful Place”, I am hoping the inspiration is the in the first category rather than the second.

Since the mastermind behind All About Lemon is a joyful, lovely orthodontist nestled in Saudi Arabia, you should see in a moment why she is so very much fun.

A Dollycious Irony

The massive creative force propelling Adam’s Art brings wonderful images to life, truly finding inspiration all around her.ย

Knowing how inspiring both of these women can be to the many followers who love them, I had to wonder what things I could share with you which may inspire you.

Out of Order

Today is quite upside down, so I shall award the blogs which provide inspiration before I complete the duties of sharing my inspirations.

Brendon Trashy makes something wonderful from something someone else threw away.

Photobotos lives up to its claims. Everyday.

Mental Gymnastics gives you something to exercise your brain.

Dreamwalker’s Sanctuary holds many wondrous discoveries.

Wrapcloth Writings is aย cornucopia of topics to devour.

Mommy Said A Swear Word makes growing up with a child deep.

Many

I am the third eldest of ten children. I have ten children, at the moment, but will have fifteen once I am married to my Bear. I am prolific in all I endeavor.

Listen

Much of what I write includes auditory images. I often ask you to listen, both to the images and to your heart. I must listen to the sounds I can create because there are so many sounds I can no longer hear.

Smell

One of my most acute senses, aromas inspire me in many ways. The comforting smells from childhood. The aromas of decadent foods. The acridness of odors which permeate life. Pheromones are a powerful force.

Change

No matter my steadfastness, I am open to change. Reinventing myself is not a painful revolution, but rather another path to discovery. While my dedication to my children is unwavering, all else is subject for debate.

Feel

In person, I am stoic and appear angry most the time. It leads others to believe I have no soft side. It is truly an assumption based in ignorant judgment.

See

My guarded nature allows me the ability and opportunity to see others without filters and preconceptions. It also affords me great latitude to step from the frame and see the picture in better, or at least different, perspective.

Incomplete

My self portrait has not changed much in the last twenty five years. I am still the observer, slightly obscured and often silent witness to those around me. Some say the most poignant thing about my self image is its incompleteness. For me, it is a triumph to know I can always improve.

The first two, I knew. The last I would have guessed. Good choices.

I’m lucky in that I can be inspired by almost anything good (for a wide definition of good).
It would probably be a fun conversation to compare our lists over an ice cold beer!

  5. Love the self-portrait, Red!
So much energy and life in it – very, very cool!
I find pretty much any/everything inspiring. I’ve got a notebook full of ideas, and as soon as I get started on one I come up with at least two new ideas to replace it. One of my biggest fears is not having enough time to make a dent in that to-do list…

  7. I love your self portrait too, Red! To me, all art is in progress. We are all works of art in the state of a progression than can always stand an improvement one way or another.
Thank you for your kind word too, my friend!

They are true, Deb. I agree. We all can stand with progress…even if it is just the gentle refinement of blending away the sharp edges.
