About Momma

Currently, Ann Marie (Red) is busy homeschooling for her autistic little ones. She is seen here with grandson Caden.

Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Ann Marie spent too many years managing retail stores across America in some of the world’s toughest markets.  The focus of her jobs was turning troubled stores back toward profit and personnel balance through quality control.

Retail followed an extended trip through the legal system as a degreed paralegal.  Louisiana is the only American state under Napoleonic law.  She knows the difference.  Her experience in family law and criminal law brought her to the Southern District appellate courts in cases involving child paternity and the death penalty.

Growing up in a family business of earth moving, Ann Marie learned the principles of good business practice, ethics and finance long before her first degree: Accounting.  Knowing how to drive a bulldozer is just a plus.

In the meantime, Ann Marie has found time to be a parent.  Engaged to Bear, Ann Marie is Momma to ten children and on the road to fifteen.  She is also Momma Bear to many adults.  She answers questions about child rearing and discipline readily.

Let's go!

Kershaw, South Carolina

Special needs children strike close to home for Ann Marie.  Three children are on the autism spectrum; one suffers hypothyroidism and had HGH therapy; one has had a kidney transplant and the youngest died of an intercranial bleed and other complications of severe prematurity.

Throughout everything, Ann Marie has been a writer and editor.  From ghost writing for newspapers; dabbling in poetry; editing fiction and educational novels; drafting and proofing legal documents; writing articles for magazines, corporations, newspapers and the Web; citizen journalism for the Web; writing her book Taming the Terrible Twos: A Parents’ Survival Guide; to her most recent project of writing a new books on grieving the death of a newborn and being the surviving spouse of cancer, Ann Marie has written millions of words.

Overall, it is an interesting tale.  Read it in her own words in Helium writer autobiographies.

  4. Hey! I found your blog through… I can’t even remember the chain that led me here, but I really love it — you’re a fantastic writer! I’ll have to explore a bit more to learn about all the butt-hurt emails you receive (Friday Follies). I’d love to list my blog with you; in the meantime, I thought you’d enjoy this post, in thinking about how good you are at responding to your hate-mail fans! http://liveclay.wordpress.com/2011/10/14/pay-your-fing-child-support/

Enjoy. There are plenty of places here which are quite funny. Search “spam” for some extras in the way of shaking your head. Stop by the Green Room and leave a link to your blog. So very nice to meet you, Laura.

  6. Funny, there must be someplace that the .com can be added to my website address. It comes up automatically when I wish to comment. Went to the Green Room to see if the problem was there but could not see it. My hot link works fine from there. I’m confused, Red. / Tess

It is right now. In the website spot, just be sure it has the .com. See where your CommentLuv is now? That’s what we needed. More ways for others to find you. <3 Red.

  7. The .com is there now. I forced it in yesterday but didn’t think it would still be there—or whatever you did to make it so.

To tell the truth, I’m not sure what CommentLuv means?

Under your comments, there is a link to your newest post. That way, anyone reading the comments can go straight from a post here to your latest post. It is just a way for my commenters to get a free link to their blogs. Hence…comment luv.

  8. Hmmm. I see. This is better than getting an award and having to do all the work some of us don’t have time for. It’s easy pickings along the way…I LOVE it…kind of like…dare I say it? Oh, OK. Being an easy pickup. That’s fine. I already know how to fend off old flames and kiss up to new ones.

Life is a BEACH! Thanks Red. I’m trying to work my way back.

And just in this comment thread, you already have two posts linked! Perfect :) I have a few more loose ends to tie before I can make rounds. If you do not see me tonight after Friday Follies (which is live now), you will see me on the morrow. ;)
