All Gritching Aside…

Some days, all I do is gritch from the time I awaken until I drop from orbit. Oh, so abject honesty? Most days.

Then, there comes a day where nothing explodes, no ego implodes from peer pressure, no catastrophe wriggles through the telephone cord or Internet fibre optic. Just peace.

At the end of that day, almost all the other days when I felt like a casualty are not nearly so bad because they are in the rear view mirror. Why?

I have these diminutive humans who believe even at my gritchiest I am better than an orphanage.

to the beach

I have even more diminutive humans who I can spoil and send home with the ones who are formerly diminutive humans who lived in my home.

I have a best friend with whom I rejoice, cry, laugh, philosophize, sigh, desire, rant, dream, salivate, shoe shop, travel, commiserate and otherwise plot to overthrow the world.

meandvalwalk

I have a roof over my head which does not leak and is under contract for air conditioning repair year round.

I have a vehicle which can take me home.

Truck with Attitude

I have these furry babies who are convinced I am the alpha-bitch, fortunately.

I have a CrackBerry who remembers all my friends’ time zones, so I know which number to dial at 0426 when I need companionship.

They all live in my CrackBerry.

I have more than 10,000 photographs, in case I cannot find Memory Lane on GPS.

I have a laptop with five letters on the keys (and grooves where my fingernails go) because I write more than my doctor thinks I should.

Typing Hands

I have doctors who care whether or not I have, take, need or want meds, a Sadist, bed rest or a bag of saline.

I have an audience who has enjoyed, had a need satisfied or been consoled by my books.

Red Dwyer's Books

I have another audience who laughs; is confounded, confused or gobsmacked; and returns to The M3 Blog to see what I pull out of my hat. A few of them are members of the other audience.

I have as much coffee as I can feasibly drink in a month without an IV bag.

Extra Large Coffee Cup

I have a Momma who calls me everyday on her way to work.

I have a Poppa who calls me when Momma does not call him.

I have jeans which are too small to wear because I am not hungry.

I have Grinch pajamas, (Grinch) robe and (Grinch) slippers so I stay snuggly warm.

Red Grinch

I have a UPS driver who reminds me the outside world is filled to brimming with stuff to make my life easier or better or more productive.

I have goose-down pillows.

I have to get up, why?

At the end of everyday, I resolve I am definitely a have.

What do you have? Have a wonderful evening.

  2. I have my health, my daughter’s family: my two granddaughters, a roof over my head and my is alert. I am most grateful the grandkids are going back, yes back, to school next week. Yahoo!

BTW, for some reason several recent posts haven’t been announced in my inbox. I’m here because I came to see what you’re up to here.

  4. I’m hot and cranky and don’t have AC. It’s not usually so humid in SoCal. I’m happy to have found a close-to-perfect pair of wedges to fulfill another one of my shallow desires. I have a wonderful husband who hasn’t figured out after 2o years that I’m not nearly as wonderful as he is. I’m too hot to continue. Have a nice Labor Day!

  5. I’m grateful that after six months my washing machine is getting fixed. Maybe. If it is not fixed by Sunday morning, I’m ordering a new one whether I can afford it or not. I am grateful that I will not be paying a phone bill this month. My phone broke, and cheapskate that I am I have not found one that suits my needs for a price I wish to pay.

  6. We often take for granted the things we have, many of which many people in many parts of the world can only dream of. Safety and security, clean water, a reliable food source, the opportunity and freedom to do mostly what we want.

    • That is what I had in mind for this post. There are a ton of things we take for granted in the face of first world problems.

  8. I have no family of my own, but I am an adopted God Grandfather of a family who think my every orifice is solar powered.

I have a roof over my head and no battles to fight, food in my belly and a need to diet because I over-ate when I finally had enough income to pay all my bills AND buy good food.

I have Doug as a neighbour who bad mouths me one minute to his friends, then knocks on my door begging for money for drink the next.

If he’s my only problem then I have nothing to grouse about!!! 🙂

Love to you and yours Red – you are a true light in the darkness sweetheart! 🙂

    God Bless and huge hugs!

  9. Harry finished re-roofing and painting the house, and repairing the deck. For that, I’m immensely thankful, as well as for the other blessings that abound in my humble abode.

I’ve (mostly) even stopped gritching about the typos I see everywhere.

  10. LOVE the new header!!! Is it time to be grateful again already!?!?!? (just kidding)…
I have wonderful siblings who are maintaining the touch across the miles. I feel an end to the hot hot hot summer of 2013… I feel the heartfelt thoughts of all virtual and RL friends, whether they know it or not, and most of all I hope your week is on the upswing. And let me tell you about Norton CS agent who, as front line response more than met my expectations and made me smile and glad that I had called her. That was an experience to remember! And to commend!
have a wonderful weekend, Red and clan…
