/ July 4, 2012This year we aren’t doing much. The kids went to a parade this morning. We will probably makes some smores later, since we never do that and they will think that is pretty awesome. When I was a kid we would be on vacation in Northern Wisconsin over the 4th every year.

/ July 7, 2012That does sound like fun. We did the traditional American blow things up routine. We had family outings to Texas when I was very young, so I understand the family get together thing. FOJ was the homecoming date for my grandfather’s home town.

/ July 4, 2012And right back atcha, Red – you and all of yours.
I’m sitting with my girl having a meal or roasted meat, corn on the cob, cole slaw and ice cold beer.
And words will be said in honor of our country.

/ July 4, 2012Happy Independence Day.
Be Safe. Don’t drink and drive. Keep fireworks away from children.
Pray for the country if you believe in God.

/ July 7, 2012I truly do not remember life before the computer. I started programming nearly thirty years ago…before the Internet. Fortunately, even with as much as I do on the puter, I have a good balance between work and pleasure. Oh, and hatemailers. It is good to laugh! <3 Bonne nuit, Mon Chat doux. Doux reves! <3 Beaucoup d'amor <3 Red. xxx

/ July 4, 2012Such a beautiful tribute, Red, and thanks, Cat! 🙂 Your first photo tugs at the heart…We usually have family gatherings to celebrate this wonderful holiday. However, our daughter is older and is with her boyfriend today and our son is at some friend’s house, hanging out. My hubby and I played tourist at one of our local towns by the bay, had lunch out and shopped! We’re grilling by ourselves for dinner! Although the day has been great, it’s the first July 4th without all of us together. Hopefully, next year, we’ll resume tradition! I hope you’re having a great celebration, Red! xx

/ July 7, 2012Lauren, I remember the first time the older ones went off to celebrate elsewhere. It makes me wistful for when they were younger, but I love when they tell their friends to all pile up at our house. I am looking forward to moving a thousand miles closer so we can go back to blow stuff up as a family again! I hope you had a wonderful time. Isn’t it a lot like dating again? xxx

/ July 4, 2012Canadians celebrate Canada Day on July 1st. But you guys put on a pretty good show with the fireworks and all.

/ July 4, 2012In Canada, we celebrated July 1st as Canada Day: the usual celebrating with parades, fireworks, time with the kids, picnics etc. We had a wonderful family BBQ and also celebrated my son-in-law’s grandparents’ sixty-second wedding anniversary. When they were married, we didn’t have Canada Day; it was called Dominion Day.
This has been a tidbit for inquiring minds. Happy Independence Day to YOU!

/ July 7, 2012How absolutely wonderful! I have known quite a few couple who were married in the 60 year range. I am certain their contributions to the historic discussion were amazing. Thank you, Tess. xxx
