Mantra for a Muse

Mantra has been throwing mothballs from her lantern. She ejected this one twice this week in reference to conversations on which she has eavesdopped.

Meet Mantra on Mondays!

Aging is a part of life we either accept or fight will all our power. Occasionally, the body fails to uphold our wishes, but equally often our willpower is the defector.

While few consider the loss of attraction and desire a casualty of time, more often than not intimate contact is deemed far less important than the myriad other appointments with which we fill our overstuffed calendars. We simply choose to discount the power inherent in celebrating life with heartfelt caresses, passionate kisses and sex.

Mantra says, “Bah.” In Youth, she brings you an idea you may just want to give a whirl.

Youth

I don’t remember being young.
Others speak of carefree laughter,
But my mind’s awash with something.

Swirling responsibility,
An acute punctuality,
Stark and lonely reality.

I’ve learned enough to want and yearn
For the selfish and wanton whims
Of the youth I can’t remember.

Unbridled sexuality,
A heady sensuality,
Definite non-reality.

Dreams nothing more than fantasy,
Even sitting in broad daylight,
In touch with youthful ecstasy.

No more adult complexity.
Fun unconventionality,
An alternate reality.

Where my body responds to touch,
Sight, sound and taste of touching skin.
The feel of youth rediscovered.

  1. Touch is as important as breathing to me, and sex as important for its touch as much as its sensuality. These truths came to me only as I aged and was given the gift of a new love life with open communication I was unable to achieve in my youth. My youth might have satisfied carnal wishes, but the intimacy of connection was not there. Sure, I’m not nearly as agile and no longer a gymnast in bed, or at the kitchen table, or in the ocean. But I have a much more satifying sex life than I ever had. xxx

    • The intimacy is enough to make the gymnastics unnecessary, regardless of how fun it was at one point. xxx

  6. Hmmm…

I vaguely remember sex, but since I’ve been on my meds that’s all I have.

  7. To be 21 with the knowledge I have now… Somehow it doesn’t seem fair. And yet, I can smirk at the young guys and think, ha. Too bad you don’t know what I know.

    • Everyone always asks if I would go back… Not without what I know now, and then, I am still unsure I would. I have that same smirk. 🙂

  8. Outstanding, Red, and it’s all true.

Lonely is described not as being alone, but as disconnected from touch. I make sure I get mine everyday.
