Life often sends a shock through the wire to shake us from our reverie. The burning sensation is sometimes warm and tingling. The birth of child to someone in our lives. A wedding. The delicate bloom of a day flower. Other shocks burn through the wire: lightning, blinding fast and searing hot. Life has delivered one such shock this week.
Elizadeth LaFontaine
Everyone Lizzy touched smiled. Her exuberant soul spread the joy which begins as a warm feeling in the heart long before it ever climbs high enough to stretch the lips into a wide smile. Those who never saw her but in pictures were smitten with her wry smile which makes you wonder if she was pleased or merely savoring a delightful deviousness.
She believed it is perfectly feasible to spend hours playing a video game and enjoying the company of others whilst you do it. Sharing tips, resources, advice and consternation equally let you know at heart, Lizzy was always a team player. She embraced play with the same vivacity she did work, charity, family, friends and love.
Lizzy’s heart leaves you breathless. Her love of Earth was unrivalled. Yet, she did not own a soapbox. Instead, she made a positive difference. She took her knowledge of high fashion and design to bring goodness into a wasteful world.
Everything she touched had potential.
Everything still had life.
Everything could be made beautiful.
She took the things we do not give a second thought and made them into creations of art.
Beautiful women are at home in beautiful clothes and jewelry. Lizzy was no exception.
Her looks were signature, both demure and alluring at the same time. Her look graces all of her designs. She has taken the unassuming and made it breathtaking and spectacular.
The Earth loved Lizzy in return. Her exceptional ability to nurture the most elusive of flowers brought sunrays into many lives. They are a living testament to her delicate touch.
In a world where many never admit their vulnerabilities, Lizzy shared them with me. She touched my heart in a way many never will. Her ability to allow me to see my own vulnerability through her eyes without making me feel as though they made me needy is a characteristic I wish for everyone to see in me.
A beautiful light on Earth was put out Sunday, August 19, 2012. I was lucky to have been afforded the opportunity to bask in its warmth and reflect some of the light back on it. Its reflection will continue to make a difference in my life and those who see it through me.
In my night sky, there is a new star. I love you, Elizadeth. Shine on, like the diamond you are. I will see your light in all the shiny things and miss you more than when it was merely miles which separated us.
Rest well, my dear friend. Goodnight.
“Another year is fast approaching. Go be that starving artist you’re afraid to be. Open up that journal and get poetic finally. Volunteer. Suck it up and travel. You were not born here to work and pay taxes. You were put here to be part of a vast organism to explore and create. Stop putting it off. The world has much more to offer than what’s on 15 televisions at TGI Fridays. Take pictures. Scare people. Shake up the scene. Be the change you want to see in the world.” ~ Jason Mraz
