How about a top ten to the number one question in the SIB?
1. Schedule.
You do not have to work everyday to appear to work everyday. Set a schedule which is comfortable for yourself. Write when you have time and schedule the posts (releases) at intervals you can maintain.
2. Be a horse.
No one wants information from the ass’ mouth. Know your subject. Information is not someplace to fake it until you make it.
3. Breathe.
Pick an adage.
- Rome was not built in a day.
- The job will still be there tomorrow.
- “To do nothing at all is the most difficult thing in the world, the most difficult and the most intellectual.” ~ Oscar Wilde
What does not get done today, may be completed tomorrow. The world was here before you came along. It will not crumble in your absence.
4. Schedule disasters.
Give yourself time for things to go horridly awry. When they do not, you have a lot of recess time. If you are a workaholic, you will get very far ahead.
5. Feed.
Eat regularly (Yes, this includes drinking coffee.); otherwise, you will collapse. Feed your mind; otherwise, it will starve and die of neglect.
6. Laugh.
…at someone else. (It may not be nice, but it helps.)
…with someone else.
…at yourself.
Laughter makes you feel better. It will give you a better perspective.
7. Believe.
Set your mind to it, and you can do it. Believe you can succeed, and others will help you make your dreams come true. Most everyone would prefer to be friends with a winner than console a loser. Use that to your advantage.
8. Give back.
If you have a better mousetrap, why are there rats in your neighbor’s silo? This is never a time waster. This creates more opportunities.
9. Rest in peace.
When you get to 189 words and have said all you need to say, stop. I am the only one counting words, and my primary project wants fewer. This gives you more time to read (feed) and interact.
10. Turn it off.
Being an addict is not going to get you more engagement. The occupants of the FAB world are the ones who engage because they are getting away from their FAB world. Lying in wait to pounce on them is just creepy. Take a break. Your work here is done well.
See? It really is not all that difficult. What is your secret to success?

/ June 25, 2013You helped me discover one main stumbling block to a problem I have had for the past year and more. Fear. I’m not afraid of failing or succeeding, at least I don’t think I am. I’m afraid of writing at all. For me to write what I intend to write means opening a vein long healed over. For me to write even short fiction is difficult right now, and I had a thousand reasons for getting in my own way. One can only do by doing, and when I feel it was what I was meant to do, I am only denying myself satisfaction.

/ June 25, 2013I decided to start napping more, and hope the house is still standing when I wake up. It is a bit difficult when I and one of the dogs are the only grown-up, grown-ups.
My regularly scheduled disasters have decided to occur at all times of the day.

/ June 25, 2013I have scheduled more napping. It is the only way I will be able to function. Thank you for not busting my chops for missing the deadline today. xxx

/ June 25, 2013Oh, you have a plan! You should do an infomercial. You could be raking in the millions.
Binky
/ June 26, 2013A Wombie Infomercial. That could be a good idea.

Tess Kann
/ June 25, 2013Crap. Napping has already been over-used here. My secret to success IS napping, not that I’ve been able to fit one in on regular intervals–not since I retired ### years ago. I believe napping is also good for my skin so…night, night.
Sometimes, I just close my eyes and walk away–sometimes, and not often but then I’m not organized…

/ June 25, 20134. Schedule disasters. They occur on their own although God must have something to do with them which is a matter over which we will have quite a “heated” discussion when the time comes.

/ June 25, 2013Aye, but you can do as I and schedule three hours for “OMG! WTF just happened?” time. *grins* That is an argument I may want to see.
MJ Logan
/ June 26, 2013I am still wondering why there are not 36 hours in every day. However, recently I have discovered that I can relax a little and only work 12 of the allotted 24. I think.

/ June 26, 2013I took a nap last week and loved it. Usually I avoid them because I fear I won’t sleep at night.
I don’t want to be the ass! I try to avoid that too, but sometimes fail.
And laughter comes in handy frequently.
Success? I’m still not sure what that is defined as, yet, for me. But I’m enjoying what I’m doing….maybe that’s success in it’s self.

/ June 26, 2013I truly think it is. When we attempt to adopt others’ measures of success, it is a measuring stick against which we will inevitably fall short. Were it not for naps, I believe I would begin being classed a cannibal. xxx

I am terrible and OMG WTF, but am learning.
I am terrible at scheduling the hated but have to do things.
I am terrible at defining the me time for things that need to be done which will help me comfortable and comforted. Even when I do this, I often set them aside for later and then never do them because everyone else needs something.
I am learning, I have good teachers.
