Writers Spotlight: G.H. Ellis

Red was pulling gingerbread zombies out of the oven when she was sure she heard grunting and growling in the café. When she rounded the counter, she knew immediately to grab two cuppa and head over to the booth where Dr. Ellis was trying to wrangle a Frankenstein behind a table, putting the patrons patiently awaiting an autograph out of the monster’s reach.

Flash in the Pan

The sun beat down on his skin. It was too hot to keep on his clothes, but without them, everywhere the light touched burned.

Turning like a sundial to only expose one side at a time to the unrelenting orb, he tried to count the waves as they licked at the side of the raft. It only made him seasick.

He closed his eyes and pictured her face handing him the cruise tickets she’d won. “If she hadn’t drowned, I would have killed her.”
