Romeo or Don Juan?

You have been asked this before: Who are you? Before you run off at the head telling me your pedigree, there is a specific you I want to know. What is your romantic identity? Hmm. Think about it.

What?

Since it is Valentine’s Day, we are looking at the fifth (no, not the first…the fifth) definition of romantic:

  • a : having an inclination for romance : responsive to the appeal of what is idealized, heroic, or adventurous
  • b : marked by expressions of love or affection
  • c : conducive to or suitable for lovemaking

Have you ever considered what you romantic identity is? So, What goes into the romantic identity? is probably a question we need to answer before we discover what your personal romantic identity is.

And before you panic…You do not have to answer each question individually. Think about your answers to the questions along the way until we get to the end.

Qualifications

Idealized

What part of you do you consider perfect? What characteristic makes you the perfect Valentine? What part of your Valentine is perfect?

Heroic

What heroic measure would show your Valentine you love him/her? Would you do something daring to prove your love? …or interest? …or desire?

Adventurous

What is your idea of Valentine’s Day fun? And not the tried and true: Dinner, show and nooky. Embrace your inner adventurer. What constitutes a Valentine adventure?

Expressions of Love & Affection

Let’s look at the laundry list:

  • Flowers
  • Chocolates
  • Cards
  • Stuffed animals
  • Promises you do not intend to keep

Are these your expressions of Valentine’s Day love and affection? Or do you have some truly romantic ideas? What makes your Valentine know s/he is the most special one on the face of the Earth?

Sex

Are you sexy? Is Valentine sexy? (And before any heckler in the audience gets started…Yes, my sister is. I mean your Valentine.) Are you going to set the mood or is Valentine going to seduce you? Or are you the kind of Valentine who just expects some for Valentine’s Day?

Building a Profile

I know I am qualified as a Valentine. The part of me which is perfect? My sarcastic humor. What part of my Valentine is perfect? You will have to wait for another post to learn that secret…or ten.

As a matter of fact, there is quite a bit of my profile which will be revealed in another post, so I am not going to spoil the fun merely because I wrote the posts out of order. You see, I wrote the next two posts more than a week ago. (Pens Valentine-themed thank you email to the scheduler.)

For the last segment, as long as Bear thinks I am sexy, all is good. I do not expect. It makes the surprise that much sweeter.

Your Turn

What is your romantic identity? Would your Valentine endorse your version of your romantic identity? Does it extend beyond Valentine’s Day? Or are you a one-hit-wonder?

Tell me the funniest or most adventurous Valentine’s Day you have had. What is the most creative gift you have given or received for Valentine’s Day? Which couple are you?

  • Romeo and Juliet
  • Bonnie and Clyde
  • Lancelot and Guinevere
  • Spencer and Audrey
  • Aphrodite and Adonis
  • Anthony and Cleopatra
  • Tarzan and Jane

Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine's Day

PS There will be no dissection of Valentine’s Day on M3 today…Maybe, next year. Today is completely about fun, affection, friends, lovers and celebrations.
